Nitty Scott, MC Speaks On Coexistence Among Female Rappers

“There comes a point in time where things naturally have to balance themselves out,” Nitty Scott says.

After touching on the subject with reference to Iggy Azalea in another part of the interview released earlier this week, Nitty Scott, MC explained why she thinks a new wave of female emcees will be able to coexist as a former generation once did.Callout_1

Recalling the previously concurrent success of artists like Lil Kim, Lauryn Hill, Missy Elliott, and Eve, Scott broke down how the industry can return to a similar landscape.

“I still feel like there’s a sort of cookie-cutter formula, image, that is tested and tried and true when it comes to female artists,” she said in a clip that debuted as a part of today’s DX Daily. “But I do think that those barriers are being broken and I think that they will be broken. In some way, because of the existence of one thing and one thing only for so long, there comes a point in time where things naturally have to balance themselves out. I think the age where we can all coexist the same way there [was] Kim and Foxy but there’s Lauryn and Eve and Missy too. I think we’ll get there and I think I’m a part of that balancing act.”
